February, 23, 2026

The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) and The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as part of a broader initiative to advance Sri Lanka's capital market development and foster the growth of businesses across the country.

The MoU was signed on 18th February 2026, bringing together the leadership of both institutions to formalise a strategic partnership aimed at broadening access to capital markets, strengthening corporate governance, and supporting the development of businesses of all sizes.

Under the terms of the MoU, the CSE and NCCSL have agreed to collaborate across several key areas including creating awareness among Sri Lankan businesses on raising capital through the CSE and enhancing investor awareness through exclusive events, while simultaneously working to professionalise and enhance the governance of these businesses to ensure their long-term sustainability. In addition, the CSE and NCCSL will jointly host events with a dedicated focus on Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), supporting their growth and systematically preparing them for potential future listing on the Colombo Stock Exchange.

The partnership will also see the CSE and NCCSL organise and promote knowledge-sharing initiatives focusing on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, corporate governance practices, equipping businesses with the frameworks necessary to thrive in a more socially and environmentally conscious corporate setting.

To maximise the impact of these efforts, both parties have agreed to leverage each other's extensive networks of professional and industry contacts. The MoU also provides a framework for the two organisations to explore additional areas of cooperation that would be of mutual benefit.
