LAUGFS Holdings Appoints Dr. Ravi Edirisinghe as Group Managing Director/Group CEO

LAUGFS Holdings Limited (LHL), one of Sri Lanka’s most diversified and respected conglomerates, announces the appointment of Dr. Ravi Edirisinghe as its new Group Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer, effective 2nd May 2025. This strategic leadership transition is a key step in LAUGFS' new business revival and transformation strategy aimed at harnessing emerging opportunities in both local and international markets.

Dr. Edirisinghe brings over 30 years of distinguished leadership experience across local, multinational, and Fortune 500 companies. His core expertise includes strategic transformation, business turnarounds, leadership development and operational excellence. His previous leadership roles include tenures at McLarens Group, GAC Sri Lanka, Sunshine Tea Ltd, Freight Links International, MAS Active (MAS Holdings), Avery Dennison, and Impressions Limited. He has also served as a consultant to the Ministry of Highways and Ministry of Science & Technology in Sri Lanka.

Academically and professionally, Dr. Edirisinghe is a Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA – UK), a Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA – UK), the Chartered Global Management Accountants (CGMA – USA), and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT – UK). He holds an MBA and an MSc in Supply Chain and Logistics. He has also received advanced executive training at globally reputed institutions such as the University of Kentucky (USA), INSEAD (France), and the National University of Singapore. He is also the recipient of the Achievers Award (2004) from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura for his outstanding contributions to business and society.

LAUGFS Holdings Limited, founded in 1995, has grown into a multifaceted conglomerate with a significant presence in the power and energy sector, including LPG downstream operations, LPG trading, shipping, utility-based power generation, and energy infrastructure. Beyond its regional presence in energy, LAUGFS is also engaged in consumer retailing, petroleum retailing, lubricant and pharmaceutical manufacturing, emission testing, international trading, industrial tyre manufacturing and exports to over 50 countries, as well as in the engineering, leisure, and hospitality sectors. Its broad diversification and entrepreneurial legacy have positioned LAUGFS as a household name in Sri Lanka and a key regional player.

This leadership change follows the completion of a successful five-year term by outgoing Group Managing Director/Group CEO, Mr. Piyadasa Kudabalage, who led the Group through one of the most turbulent periods in Sri Lanka’s recent history—navigating the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, political instability, and economic headwinds. His contributions, especially in restructuring balance sheets and sustaining the Group’s stability, have laid a solid foundation for the next phase of growth.

With this appointment, LAUGFS is embarking on a bold transformation and turnaround journey, reinforcing its commitment to innovation, growth, and value creation across its businesses, both locally and globally.
