Hunas Hospitality launches unified brand, opens Hunas Beach

Hunas Hospitality has launched its unified hospitality brand alongside the opening of Hunas Beach on October 17 in the Southern Coast of Balapitiya, marking a strategic expansion of its portfolio and bringing its Sri Lankan leadership and Japanese partners together under a common growth vision.

Building on the established Hunas Falls brand, the group is expanding beyond the hill country into coastal hospitality, with a riverside property planned as the next addition to its portfolio. The strategy aims to build a diversified collection of destinations under one brand, strengthening its market presence in Sri Lanka’s tourism and hospitality sector.

Atheeq Ansar, Managing Director of Hunas Hospitality, said the launch builds on the Hunas legacy, bringing together a shared Sri Lankan and Japanese vision for distinctive hospitality experiences.

“This evening is not simply the celebration of one hotel; it marks the beginning of many more exciting projects and opportunities that we look forward to bringing to life together, under one unified brand which is Hunas Hospitality,” he said.

Ansar acknowledged the contribution of the group’s Japanese partners and the enduring relationships that have helped bring the shared vision to life.

Japanese director Watanabe-san reflected on his first investment in Sri Lanka 13 years ago, recalling the country’s promise and expressing his continued confidence in its future.

“We’re looking forward to growing together and building something meaningful in Sri Lanka’s tourism and hospitality industry,” he said.

He also highlighted the warmth of Sri Lankan hospitality as one of the country’s defining strengths, noting that the genuine welcome and personal care extended to guests set the country apart.

Rajith Gooneratne, Head of Hunas Hospitality, said the unified brand would extend the spirit of Hunas beyond the hills, bringing distinctive destinations together under a shared vision of elevating hospitality and connecting extraordinary experiences.

With the opening of Hunas Beach, which offers 26 luxury rooms, all facing the sea, with private balconies. the group is extending its hospitality offering to the coast, with plans to develop a portfolio spanning hill-country, coastal and riverside destinations.

The property will also feature an all-day dining restaurant, a beachside specialty cocktail bar and a range of other high-end facilities.

The group said its approach would be guided by genuine warmth, a strong sense of place, thoughtful service and a commitment to sustainable growth, as it seeks to build on the legacy of Hunas Falls and strengthen its presence in Sri Lanka’s tourism and hospitality sector.
