Distilleries Company Consolidates Brewery Unit Operations Following Excise Approval

Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka PLC (DCSL) has formally notified the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) that its wholly-owned subsidiary, DCSL Breweries Lanka Ltd, has transferred its entire brewing, packaging, and distribution operations directly to DCSL PLC. The internal consolidation took effect on October 28, 2026, in compliance with Section 8 of the CSE Listing Rules.

DCSL PLC confirmed it has obtained official approval from the Department of Excise for the transfer of the required licenses. Under the unified structure, DCSL PLC will handle the brewing, packaging, and distribution of beer directly, adding to its existing operations of distilling, bottling, and distributing hard liquor.

Following the transfer, DCSL PLC will produce and market licensed international beer brands—including Heineken, Tiger, and Anchor—alongside the Group's proprietary brands, such as Aliya, Bison, and DCSL Beer, within the Sri Lankan market. Management highlighted that while the operational shift offers convenience for the company and retail partners, it is not expected to have a significant impact on Group profits.

Following the official disclosure, DCSL shares experienced a noticeable gain during morning trading on the Colombo Stock Exchange today (29).

By 11:40 AM, the company’s stock (DIST.N0000) rose to LKR 55.00, up LKR 3.00 or 5.77% from its previous closing price of LKR 52.00.
