Avish Silva, the seven-year-old go-kart racing sensation, has made an indelible mark in the international go-kart circuits by securing a second-place podium finish in Round 4 of the IAME Bambino Cup, held recently in the UAE. He is the first and only Sri Lankan to achieve this historic milestone  

At just seven years old, Avish’s achievement is especially significant, as he has reached a milestone that no Sri Lankan driver has previously achieved in a similar championship anywhere in the world. Confirmed by the championship organizers, this achievement marks a major milestone for Sri Lankan motorsport and highlights the potential of the country’s young racing talent on the international stage.

Competing against 13 young drivers from different countries, predominantly from Europe, Avish demonstrated exceptional speed, consistency, and determination throughout the event. His time-trial performance was particularly impressive. Having secured third place in Time Trial 1 and 2, Avish delivered a winning performance in Time Trial 3. 

The IAME Bambino Cup is an international karting championship for children aged between five and eight years. It provides a competitive platform for young drivers to develop their skills and compete against talented racers from around the world. His achievement demonstrates that Sri Lankan talent can make its mark at international competitions from an early age, opening new possibilities for the future of karting in Sri Lanka.
