Jinasena (Pvt) Ltd Expands Engineering Capabilities into Fire and Safety Sector

The new division extends the 1905-founded engineering company’s capabilities into a sector critical to protecting people, property and business operations.

Jinasena (Pvt) Ltd has launched its Fire & Safety Projects Division, marking a strategic expansion into the fire protection and safety sector. The move extends the company’s established engineering expertise into Sri Lanka’s commercial, industrial and institutional infrastructure, with a comprehensive range of fire detection, protection and suppression solutions.

Commenting on the launch, Managing Director, Shani Jinasena at Jinasena (Pvt) Ltd said, "Responsible building and infrastructure development has always included fire safety as an important aspect. In order to provide customers with a more comprehensive approach to fire protection, we are combining our engineering expertise and reliable service capabilities with existing fire pump solutions with this new division. Our goal is to offer reliable, end-to-end solutions that meet organisations' fire safety needs, from system design and installation to testing and ongoing maintenance.”

The Fire & Safety Projects Division offers addressable, conventional and wireless fire alarm systems, aspirating smoke detection, portable fire extinguishers, hydrants and hose reels, listed and non-listed fire pump sets, fire-rated doors, and sprinkler and valve systems. Specialised suppression solutions include water mist, clean agent, carbon dioxide (CO₂), foam and kitchen wet-chemical systems.

Each project follows a three-step approach: risk assessment, solution design, and verification through installation, commissioning and testing before handover. Systems with UL and LPCB approvals are designed and installed in line with recognised international standards, such as NFPA, BS EN, and SLS/ISO. From initial surveys and design to installation, commissioning, and maintenance, lifecycle support is provided.

Founded in 1905, Jinasena (Pvt) Ltd is one of Sri Lanka’s oldest and most respected domestic and industrial water pump manufacturers. Customized Pumps, Water Purification, Irrigation, Solar, and IT solutions are all part of its portfolio. The company's engineering capabilities are further extended into the infrastructure and building fire protection requirements by the Fire & Safety Projects Division.

Safeguarding building occupants, protecting physical assets, and reducing the possibility of operational disruption are all made possible by effective fire protection. Through solutions designed to meet the needs of commercial and office buildings, manufacturing and industrial facilities, retail and hospitality establishments, healthcare and educational institutions, infrastructure and utilities, and residential developments, the division seeks to support these priorities.

Property developers, building owners, construction firms, main contractors, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) contractors, architects, engineers, consultants, and procurement teams engaged in infrastructure and building projects are among its potential client base.

Under the leadership of Chief Operating Officer Guyanga Weerasekera, Chief Sales & Marketing Officer Chinthaka Wickramasinghe, and Head of the Fire & Safety Projects Division Anoj Kaluarachchi, Jinasena (Pvt) Ltd seeks to strengthen its position in the fire and safety sector and establish enduring relationships with institutional, corporate, and infrastructure stakeholders.
