Austrian Airlines will begin a once-a-week direct flight to Sri Lanka beginning 27 October 2015 and direct flights between the two country resumes after eight years, said Civil Aviation Services Director General H.M.C. Nimalsiri.
This would benefit Sri Lanka’s tourism industry since some 8.5 million Austrians prefer to experience the coastal region tourism.
During 2014 the Katunayake International Airport has earned Rs. 13.6 million through foreign travel operations.
Direct flights between Austria and Sri Lanka resumes after 24 January 2008.
