Higher Education and Highways Minister Lakshman Kiriella says with his getting the Highways Ministry he would give top priority to the construction of the Kandy Expressway. 

Meanwhile, discussions are in progress on construction of alternate roads to minimise the traffic congestion within the Kandy city, added the Minister.

Adding further, Minister Kiriella said a permanent bridge would be constructed across the Mahaveli Ganga between Dodanwela and Haloluwa and till such time a temporary steel bridge would be erected in ts place.
