Sri Lanka’s Tourism Revenue Soars by 78% in H1 2024

Sri Lanka's tourism industry is experiencing a robust recovery, with total earnings reaching US$1,556.6 million in the first half of 2024, marking a 77.9% increase compared to the same period in 2023, when earnings were $875 million, according to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.

June 2024 saw an influx of 113,470 tourists, generating $151.1 million in revenue for the month.

Data from the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority shows that over one million tourists visited Sri Lanka in the first six months of 2024, totaling 1,010,249. This is a 61.7% increase from the 624,874 tourists who visited during the first half of 2023, reflecting a substantial rise in tourist numbers and subsequent revenue.
