At the 2024 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Group in Washington, D.C., IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva met with Sri Lanka’s delegation, led by Central Bank Governor Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe. During the meeting, Georgieva expressed her support for Sri Lanka’s ongoing reform efforts and commended the government’s commitment to safeguarding the hard-won gains achieved under the IMF-supported program.

Georgieva emphasized the IMF’s continued dedication to helping Sri Lanka build a better future for its people. The discussions highlighted Sri Lanka’s progress in stabilizing its economy through essential reforms, and the IMF remains committed to supporting these efforts.
