July, 26, 2025

Sri Lanka’s apparel exports recorded a 5.2% increase in June 2025 compared to the same month last year, driven by robust gains in the European Union and United Kingdom markets, according to the Joint Apparel Association Forum (JAAF).

Exports to the EU surged by 23.1% in June, while shipments to the UK rose by 20.4%, offsetting declines in the USA (-5.7%) and other regions (-9.3%).

Cumulative apparel exports for the first half of 2025 (January to June) climbed 8.95% year-on-year. Growth was led by the EU with a 16.7% rise, followed by other markets (+8.9%), the UK (+6.4%), and the USA (+4.1%).

JAAF said the figures reflect encouraging momentum in key markets, particularly the EU and UK. The industry continues to demonstrate resilience amid global challenges, supported by strategic diversification and sustained buyer confidence in Sri Lankan apparel.
