The Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC) has issued a public alert stating that “Gladius South Asia” is not licensed to operate as a market participant either within Sri Lanka or overseas.
In its announcement, the SEC clarified that it does not regulate or grant licenses for entities operating in foreign jurisdictions, countering claims reportedly being made by Gladius South Asia.
The Commission noted that the entity has informed some clients that it is licensed by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in the United Kingdom. However, following inquiries made by the SEC, the FCA has officially confirmed that Gladius South Asia is not registered with the UK regulator.
The SEC emphasized that all financial services activities in the United Kingdom require authorization or registration by the FCA, reiterating the need for investors to exercise caution when dealing with entities making unverified regulatory claims.
