January, 26, 2026

A large number of families have lost their homes and properties and were displaced due to the disaster caused by the “Ditwah” cyclone.

In response, the Government has launched the Rebuilding Sri Lanka programme aimed at restoring lives of the impacted communities and rebuilding the country.

Under the Rebuilding Sri Lanka programme, a housing construction project is currently being implemented for families whose houses were completely destroyed by the disaster and generous citizens across the country are now invited to donate land required for the construction of these houses.

Accordingly, more details can be obtained through the website www.rebuildingsrilanka.gov.lk or by calling the hotline 1800. Information from prospective land donors may also be forwarded via fax to 011 233 1246.

The Government is committed to ensuring that no citizen affected by the disaster is left behind and to rebuilding lives to a standard higher than before. In line with this commitment, the Rebuilding Sri Lanka programme is being implemented as a strong and transparent initiative.

All philanthropic individuals across the country are invited to actively join hands with this programme in support of our fellow citizens affected by the disaster.
