David Pieris Logistics opens first-ever multi-user logistics facility in Northern Sri Lanka

January, 29, 2026

David Pieris Logistics (Private) Limited (formerly D P Logistics (Pvt.) Limited), the logistics arm of the David Pieris Group of Companies, officially inaugurated Jaffna’s first-ever purpose-built, multi-user logistics facility, marking a significant milestone in the development of modern logistics infrastructure in Sri Lanka’s Northern Province.

Mr. David Pieris, Founder & President of the David Pieris Group of Companies, together with Mr. Rohana Dissanayake, Group Chairman & Managing Director, ceremonially cut the ribbon to declare the new state-of-the-art warehouse open, in the presence of directors from Group companies.

Located at No. 202/01, Kadduvan–Myliddy Road, Myliddy South, Kankesanthurai, Jaffna, in close proximity to the Palaly International Airport, the newly established facility is the first modern, professionally managed multi-user warehouse developed in Jaffna and the Northern Region. The investment represents David Pieris Logistics’ first major logistics infrastructure development in Northern Sri Lanka, reinforcing long-term private sector confidence in the region’s post-conflict economic resurgence.

Designed as a scalable, multi-user third-party logistics (3PL) hub, the facility is equipped to support a wide range of industries including FMCG, retail, agriculture and manufacturing. It offers a comprehensive suite of services encompassing warehousing, storage, material handling, value-added services and regional distribution—enabling businesses of varying scales to access reliable, cost-efficient logistics solutions.

Strategically positioned near key transport nodes such as the Kankesanthurai Railway Station, Kankesanthurai Seaport and Palaly International Airport, the facility enables seamless connectivity across air, sea and land transport networks. This strategic location significantly enhances supply chain efficiency, reduces lead times and lowers logistics costs for businesses operating in or serving Northern Sri Lanka, while also strengthening trade linkages with the rest of the country.

The facility also plays a vital role in employment generation and skills development within the region. It creates direct employment opportunities for the local workforce across warehouse operations, administration, transport coordination and facility management, while indirect employment is generated through transport providers, suppliers, maintenance services and other ancillary logistics support services. Importantly, exposure to modern warehouse management systems and global 3PL best practices will contribute to skills transfer and capacity building in the Northern Province.

In line with the David Pieris Group’s sustainability ethos, the warehouse integrates energy-efficient and environmentally responsible operational practices, reinforcing David Pieris Logistics’ commitment to sustainable and responsible logistics solutions.

Commenting on the opening, Mr. Kalum Ketipearachchi, Managing Director & CEO of David Pieris Logistics, stated that the Jaffna facility is envisioned as a catalyst for regional economic growth. He noted that the development will empower local businesses, improve access to national markets, create employment opportunities and strengthen the Northern Province’s role within Sri Lanka’s broader supply chain ecosystem.

David Pieris Logistics offers a full spectrum of end-to-end integrated supply chain solutions across Sri Lanka. With nearly three decades of industry experience, the company has established a strong footprint in warehousing, 3PL and 4PL services, container transportation, distribution, international freight forwarding, and project logistics. Supported by a workforce of over 400 logistics professionals, the company serves a diverse client base with customised logistics solutions tailored to evolving business needs. Beyond Sri Lanka, David Pieris Logistics has also invested in logistics ventures in Dubai, the Sultanate of Oman, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, further strengthening its international presence.

By providing shared, professionally managed logistics infrastructure, the Jaffna facility lowers entry barriers for SMEs and regional producers, enabling them to integrate more effectively into national and regional supply chains. The development aligns closely with national objectives to promote balanced regional growth and private sector-led investment beyond the Western Province.

The opening of this landmark facility underscores David Pieris Logistics’ long-term commitment to inclusive growth, regional development, and the strengthening of Sri Lanka’s logistics and trade infrastructure.
