ASPI falls over 100 points as turnover moderates

The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) ended trading today (10) on a weaker note, with the broader market retreating amid reduced investor activity.

The All Share Price Index (ASPI) declined by 103.17 points to close at 23,651.09.

In contrast, the more liquid S&P SL20 Index recorded only a marginal decline, shedding 3.27 points to settle at 6,605.41, reflecting relative stability among blue-chip counters.

Market turnover was notably lower compared to recent sessions, amounting to Rs. 3.54 billion for the day.

Local investor participation remained dominant, with purchases totaling Rs. 3.51 billion, while sales stood at Rs. 3.04 billion. Foreign investor activity remained subdued, with purchases at Rs. 34 million against sales of Rs. 500 million.
