APIIT Law School, Colombo, has once again demonstrated its growing influence on the international stage with an outstanding performance at Lex Infinitum 2026, a prestigious global Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) competition.

The 11th edition of Lex Infinitum, held from 22nd to 24th January 2026, brought together law students from around the world to compete in mediation and negotiation. The competition provided participants with a realistic and demanding environment designed to simulate real-world legal disputes. With experienced ADR practitioners serving as mediators, assessors, and mentors, the event offered students valuable exposure to professional ADR practice beyond conventional litigation.

The competition has steadily built its reputation as an international forum for developing advocacy, communication, and dispute resolution skills. This year’s edition featured contemporary mediation and negotiation problems reflective of current global legal challenges, encouraging participants to think strategically, collaborate effectively, and respond under pressure.

A key highlight of the event was the remarkable achievement of Rakeeb Mohamed Zawahir of APIIT Law School, who secured the Winner title in the Mediator Category. His performance was widely praised for its strong analytical ability, clear and confident communication, and sound understanding of mediation principles. Rakeeb was trained under Ms. Tharuka Jayasinghe, whose mentorship played a vital role in his preparation and success.

APIIT Law School further strengthened its mark at the competition through the impressive performance of Nabeel Hassen and Baasith Rizwan, who advanced to the Quarter Finals in the Negotiation Category. Guided by Ms. Nilupulee Gunathilake, the team demonstrated excellent teamwork, strategic planning, and composure under pressure in what was described as a highly competitive global setting.
