Radisson Blu Resort Galle, Radisson Hotel Colombo and Radisson Hotel Kandy Accelerate Sustainability with Electric Mobility

February, 16, 2026

Radisson Blu Resort Galle, Radisson Hotel Colombo and Radisson Hotel Kandy are strengthening their commitment to sustainability with the introduction of a fleet of electric vans across the portfolio, marking a move toward cleaner, more efficient operational mobility.

The new fleet, supplied by Evolution Auto, includes KYC electric vans for urban hotel operations and larger King Long electric vans for higher-capacity transport and logistics needs. These vehicles will support day-to-day operations, including staff transport, internal logistics, property mobility, and guest movements, while significantly reducing the hotels’ environmental footprint.

The initiative highlights the hospitality sector’s increasing focus on practical sustainability measures. By electrifying operational fleets, hotels can reduce emissions and noise pollution without compromising efficiency or service quality. Beyond environmental benefits, electric vehicles offer economic advantages, including lower fuel dependency, reduced maintenance, and greater cost predictability amid energy price volatility.

Mr. Bob Kundanmal, Chairman of Sino Lanka Hotels Holdings Ltd and owner of the trio of hotels in Sri Lanka, mentioned:

"Sustainability is not just a responsibility; it’s an opportunity to innovate and lead. By introducing electric mobility across our operations, we are demonstrating our commitment to a greener future while continuing to deliver exceptional service."

Kristofer Quadros, Cluster General Manager for the portfolio, added:
"Integrating electric vehicles into our daily operations allows us to enhance efficiency while actively reducing our environmental impact. Sustainability is a core foundation of our hotel operations, guided by Radisson’s Hotel Sustainability Basics, which focus on responsible resource use, reduced environmental footprint, and long-term positive impact. The addition of charging facilities ensures smooth operations and reinforces our long-term vision for sustainable hospitality”

As Sri Lanka explores cleaner transport solutions and reduces reliance on fuel imports, corporate adoption of electric mobility will play an increasingly important role. This initiative demonstrates how leading hospitality brands can align sustainability with operational excellence and financial performance, setting a benchmark for responsible practices in the tourism sector.

Our trio of hotels are proudly verified under the Hotel Sustainability Basics program, demonstrating their commitment to responsible hospitality. Aligned with the core sustainability goals of the Radisson Hotel Group, our three hotels actively practice and support RHG’s key efforts in reducing environmental impact, uplifting local communities, and fostering inclusion and equality across our teams.
