Minasro College, recently honored with the prestigious Peoples Excellency Award for its outstanding contribution to pre-school and primary education, successfully held its Fourth Annual Sports Meet on February 8, 2026, at the Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo. This national-level recognition, together with the successful organization of the sports meet, reaffirmed the school’s strong commitment to its educational vision and holistic student development. The Peoples Excellency Award recognizes the school’s dedication to providing a balanced and comprehensive education for students at pre-school and primary levels. The award highlights Minasro College’s mission to nurture confident, capable citizens from rural communities with internationally competitive skills. This achievement reflects the unwavering commitment of the school’s directors, Dr. Major Anura Kannangara and Mrs. Pushpa Hettiarachchi, along with the dedicated teaching and administrative staff.

The Fourth Annual Sports Meet was a vibrant celebration filled with enthusiasm, discipline, and team spirit. Students from Grade One upwards actively participated in track and field events, team competitions, and various athletic activities. Colorful parades and impressive display events added excitement and energy to the occasion, while the large gathering of parents and invited guests further motivated the young athletes. Under the theme “Good Start, Grow Smart,” Minasro College continues to build a comprehensive education system that integrates academic excellence, character development, and physical skills. The Peoples Excellency Award victory and the successful hosting of the sports meet clearly reflect the school’s ongoing dedication to shaping well-rounded, future-ready citizens. The Minasro Matugama branch is also scheduled to open in March with a fully equipped and secure new campus.
