Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs S. Paul Kapur arrived in Colombo on Sunday (21) for a three-day official visit aimed at strengthening U.S.-Sri Lanka relations.

During his visit, Kapur is scheduled to meet senior Sri Lankan government officials, private sector leaders, and representatives of U.S. companies operating in the country to discuss expanding bilateral trade and investment, enhancing security cooperation, and advancing shared regional priorities.

As part of his engagements, Kapur met with leaders of major American companies operating in Sri Lanka, including Chevron, Coca-Cola, Microsoft, Visa, and JP Morgan.

Highlighting the importance of U.S. businesses in the bilateral relationship, Kapur said American companies are a cornerstone of the U.S.-Sri Lanka partnership, contributing to local talent development and connecting Sri Lanka to trusted global supply chains.

The U.S. State Department said the visit reflects President Donald Trump's commitment to strengthening partnerships that promote American prosperity and security, while deepening cooperation with Sri Lanka as a key partner in the Indian Ocean region.
