Radisson Hotel Kandy Appoints Mr. Mangala Hemananda as General Manager

Radisson Hotel Kandy is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Mangala Hemananda as its General Manager. A seasoned hospitality professional with over two decades of experience in luxury and upscale hotel operations, Mr. Hemananda brings strong leadership, operational expertise, and a proven track record of driving service excellence and performance improvement.

In his current role at Radisson Hotel Kandy, Mr. Hemananda has been instrumental in strengthening operational standards, enhancing guest satisfaction, and driving measurable quality improvements. Under his leadership, the hotel achieved a significant milestone by securing the Quality Accelerator Award for Q1 2025, recognized for the highest quality improvement in the MEA and SEAP region with an impressive improvement.

Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Hemananda held progressive leadership roles within Radisson Hotel Group, including Hotel Manager, Executive Assistant Manager, and Rooms Division Manager at Radisson Hotel Colombo. His career also reflects strong exposure to international hospitality standards through assignments at Jebel Ali Beach Hotel in Dubai and Komandoo Island Resort & Spa in the Maldives.

He has built a solid foundation in Sri Lanka’s hospitality sector through key operational leadership roles at The Kingsbury Colombo, where he progressed to Director of Facilities and Head of the Butler Department, as well as earlier experience at Hilton Colombo in housekeeping operations. These experiences have shaped his expertise across Rooms Division, Housekeeping, and Food & Beverage operations, enabling a well-rounded operational leadership style.

Academically, Mr. Hemananda holds a specialization in Hospitality Management from the Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism & Hotel Management (SLITHM) and a Diploma in Accommodation Management from Hilton University & Hotel School The Hague.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, he has contributed to the industry as the First President of the Sri Lanka Housekeepers’ Association and was recognized with the Hayleys Group Chairman’s Award for Leadership for his outstanding contribution during The Kingsbury Colombo refurbishment project.
