WIIN Launches Operations in Sri Lanka

Marking another significant milestone in Sri Lanka's journey towards becoming a leader in digital and industrial transformation amid the rapid evolution of the global technology landscape, the Wireless Intelligence and Innovation (WIIN) Institute of Technology was officially launched at TRACE Expert City.
The inaugural ceremony was held under the patronage of Deputy Minister of Digital Economy Eranga Weeraratne, with the participation of numerous distinguished guests.
Founded on the principle of "globally impactful, locally driven," WIIN is committed to conducting research and executing projects of international standards while maintaining a clear focus on strengthening Sri Lanka's technology ecosystem and supporting the country's broader economic development.
With a dedicated team of full-time researchers, engineers, and software developers, WIIN aims to deliver innovative technological solutions across five key sectors that directly influence the nation's economy: telecommunications, energy, construction, financial technology (FinTech), and healthcare.
In addition to research and innovation, the institute offers industry-focused training programmes designed to equip professionals with cutting-edge technological skills. These programmes include emerging disciplines such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), and are tailored to meet the evolving demands of modern industries.
WIIN has established collaborations with globally renowned institutions, including the 6G Flagship Programme of the University of Oulu, Finland, a world leader in European research projects and next-generation wireless communications; the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) and IITM Pravartak, which provide global technological expertise; as well as engineering faculties from Sri Lankan universities.
The launch ceremony was attended by several distinguished guests, including His Excellency Santosh Jha, High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka; Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya, Chief Advisor to the President on Digital Economy; Waruna Sri Dhanapala, Secretary to the Ministry of Digital Economy; Devika Lal, representing the High Commission of India; Dr. Shankar Raman; Professor David Koilpillai of IIT Madras; along with many other eminent guests and industry experts.
