The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce hosted a business delegation today (4^th August) from the Cochin Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), India, creating direct engagement between Sri Lankan companies and businesses from Kerala to explore new commercial opportunities and strengthen private-sector links.

Established in 1857, the Cochin Chamber is one of India’s oldest business chambers, representing enterprises across a wide range of industries and playing an active role in supporting regional economic growth.

The visiting delegation, comprising CCCI President Vinodini Sukumar, Past President C. S. Kartha, CCCI officials, and leading Indian business representatives, met with Ceylon Chamber Chairperson Krishan Balendra, Secretary General and CEO Shiran Fernando, Deputy Secretary General, Chief Operating Officer and Financial Controller Alikie Perera, and other Ceylon Chamber representatives. The delegation also participated in a B2B networking session with Sri Lankan companies to identify potential areas of cooperation.

The discussions provided a platform for Chamber representatives and business leaders from both countries to exchange perspectives on market opportunities, emerging business trends, and areas where greater collaboration could be developed. Potential partnerships were explored across logistics and shipping, export and import trade, hospital products and supplies, cold storage solutions, advertising and marketing, and the tea industry.

The engagement also highlighted Kerala’s growing industrial and services sectors, supported by its strong base of skilled human capital. Delegates shared insights on the opportunities created by this talent pool and discussed ways businesses in both countries could leverage complementary strengths to build stronger regional connections.

Beyond immediate trade opportunities, discussions focused on the potential for wider collaboration through investment, technology partnerships, knowledge exchange, and business services, reflecting the growing importance of stronger private-sector links between Sri Lanka and India.

Through initiatives such as these, the Ceylon Chamber continues to connect businesses with regional and global partners, creating platforms for meaningful commercial engagement and supporting opportunities for Sri Lankan enterprises to expand their international networks.
