Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation General Limited (SLICGL), the nation’s No. 1 motor insurer and trusted leader in general insurance, supported pilgrims and visitors throughout the Katharagama Esala Festival, held from 26th to 29th July 2026.

SLICGL were onsite, ready to help pilgrims should any unplanned breakdown threatened to disrupt their travels. It is the promise at the heart of every motor insurance policy, to be present when it matters most, ensuring no pilgrimage to Katharagama is derailed by the unexpected.

Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation General Limited (SLICGL), the nation’s No. 1 motor insurer and trusted leader in general insurance, successfully conducted a largescale Motor Plus Brand Activation during the Katharagama Esala Festival from 26th to 29th July 2026. The initiative combined brand engagement with meaningful community service, focusing on road safety, public assistance, and direct support to pilgrims and visitors.

As the nation’s No 1 motor insurance provider, drawing on expertise of protecting motorists, SLICGL introduced a Free Vehicle Towing Service for pilgrims and visitors experiencing breakdowns. Over the four days, many vehicles were assisted with towing, and immediate roadside support was extended to numerous others, ensuring pilgrims could continue their journeys safely and without disruption.

Conducted in partnership with the Katharagama Dewalaya, the service reinforced SLICGL’s role as more than an insurer, but a partner in safeguarding lives and journeys.

The activation also brought the Motor Plus brand closer to thousands of Sri Lankans. A specially designed experiential stall welcomed approximately 10,000 visitors, offering interactive games, road safety awareness sessions, and personalized insurance consultations. A raffle draw created a sense of celebration, while a vehicle stickering campaign successfully branded nearly 4,000 vehicles, spreading road safety messages across the region.

The initiative reflects SLICGL’s broader mission of protecting motorists through practical, ontheground support, promoting road safety as a national priority, and building trust by being present at cultural and community events.

SLICGL’s presence at Katharagama was not about visibility alone, but about serving communities in a practical way. Offering free towing and road safety support, SLICGL reaffirmed commitment to shield motorists beyond insurance coverage. Time and time again, SLICGL has proven it is Sri Lanka’s No. 1 motor insurer which is trusted, reliable, and dedicated to the public.
