Diabetasol has announced Kalasuri Channa Wijewardena, Founder and Creative Director of the internationally acclaimed Channa-Upuli Dance Troupe, as the face of its new campaign, "Keep Life in Rhythm."
The idea behind the campaign is simple: everyone has a rhythm to their life — the passions, people and routines that make them who they are. A diagnosis of diabetes can feel like it puts all of that on hold. "Keep Life in Rhythm" sets out to challenge that, moving away from the idea that diabetes has to define or limit a person, and towards a more grounded message: that with the right balance, discipline and nutrition, life can go on much as it always has.
Few people embody that thinking as naturally as Channa Wijewardena. As the creative force behind one of the country's most respected dance troupes, his life is built on discipline and sustained energy — quietly at odds with the common assumption that someone living with diabetes must slow down or step back. To the public, he remains exactly who he has always been: an artist fully immersed in a demanding creative practice. His involvement gives the campaign's message a genuine, lived-in face.
"Having diabetes for me is about finding the right balance, being disciplined about my choices and taking care of myself," Wijewardena said. "I still want to enjoy my work, my passions and my everyday life. Diabetes is something I manage, but it doesn't define who I am."
Nutrition sits quietly at the centre of that balance. Qualified nutritionist and Head of Nutrition at Kalbe, Kishan Canagasabey notes that the choice of nutrition matters as much as the decision to seek it out. "When someone with diabetes considers a nutritional drink, the real question isn't just whether it's nutritious — it's whether it's the right choice for their condition," he said. "Research has moved well past the idea that one formula suits everyone. For someone managing diabetes, that distinction matters."
Diabetasol has been formulated with that distinction in mind — a low glycemic index that allows its carbohydrates to be absorbed more slowly, along with high protein content, fibre, no added sucrose and essential vitamins and minerals, all designed around the everyday needs of people living with diabetes.
With over 30 years of expertise globally and more than a decade in Sri Lanka, Diabetasol continues to sit at the intersection of nutrition and everyday life. Locally, the brand is brought to market through Hemas Pharmaceuticals as a partner of Kalbe, which marks 60 years in operation this year.
At its heart, "Keep Life in Rhythm" is an invitation — to keep doing what you love, while making informed choices that support your health. As Wijewardena's own life shows, a diagnosis doesn't have to break stride. With the right balance, the rhythm continues.
