Lily & Gotukola, Lemongrass and Aloe & Cucumber bring new herbal experiences to a brand trusted by generations

Swadeshi Khomba, Sri Lanka’s No. 1 herbal brand from The Swadeshi Industrial Works PLC, has introduced three new variants of its iconic Khomba Herbal – Lily & Gotukola, Lemongrass and Aloe & Cucumber – marking an exciting new chapter in the brand’s more than eight-decade journey.

For the first time, Swadeshi Khomba is extending its herbal offering with three distinctive variants developed to cater to different consumer needs, while remaining rooted in the natural herbal goodness for which Khomba has been trusted by generations.

The three new additions are Swadeshi Khomba Lily & Gotukola for Youthful Skin, Swadeshi Khomba Lemongrass for Long-Lasting Freshness and Swadeshi Khomba Aloe & Cucumber for Cool Skin.

At the heart of all three variants is Margosa, locally known as Kohomba, the trusted botanical that has defined the Khomba brand for generations and is known for helping maintain clean, healthy-looking skin. The new range is  conveniently packed in attractive cartons and offered at an affordable price, making it an ideal choice for everyday family use.

Swadeshi Khomba Lily & Gotukola for Youthful Skin combines the goodness of Kohomba with Lily and Gotukola. Lily is known for its gentle soothing qualities, helping to leave the skin feeling soft, refreshed and beautifully cared for, while Gotukola, traditionally valued in herbal care, helps nourish and revitalise the skin to support a naturally healthy appearance.

Swadeshi Khomba Lemongrass for Long-Lasting Freshness combines Kohomba with the refreshing goodness of Lemongrass. Known for its fresh herbal character, Lemongrass helps leave the skin feeling fresh and revitalised, creating an uplifting bathing experience ideal for everyday use.

Swadeshi Khomba Aloe & Cucumber for Cool Skin brings together Kohomba, Aloe Vera and Cucumber for a refreshing skincare experience particularly suited to Sri Lanka’s tropical climate. Aloe Vera helps calm skin exposed to the intense island sun while providing light, non-greasy moisture, while Cucumber delivers an instant burst of cooling freshness.

The introduction of the three new variants represents the continuing evolution of a homegrown brand that has played a pioneering role in Sri Lanka’s herbal personal care category. The Swadeshi Industrial Works was incorporated in 1941, with Khomba Herbal Soap launched soon afterwards. Since then, the brand has built an enduring relationship with Sri Lankan families through its distinctive combination of herbal heritage, mild yet deep cleansing and the promise of natural protection for the whole family.

Speaking about the launch, the Deputy Chairperson/Managing Director of Swadeshi, Ms. Chulodhara Samarasinghe, said, “The new range reflects Swadeshi’s commitment to bringing the benefits of carefully selected herbal ingredients to modern consumers while continuing to evolve with changing personal care expectations, whilst maintaining our quality and trust with new plant-based formulations”.

“For more than eight decades, the Khomba name has been closely associated with the goodness of Kohomba. Swadeshi Khomba Original Herbal features natural Margosa oil as its primary ingredient, connecting the brand directly with the botanical from which it takes its name. We are happy that this herbal heritage is being extended through new ingredient combinations designed to offer consumers greater choice and distinctive bathing experiences”.

Behind Swadeshi Khomba’s longstanding consumer trust is a strong commitment to product quality, safety and responsible manufacturing. Swadeshi Khomba is registered with the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) of the Ministry of Health, while the fragrances used in Swadeshi Khomba are certified by the globally accepted International Fragrance Association (IFRA). Swadeshi Khomba Herbal is manufactured in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 and GMP standards and is internationally dermatologically tested.

The brand is also accredited by the Vegetarian Society of the UK. Swadeshi Khomba Herbal is vegetarian, cruelty free and has never been tested on animals, reinforcing Swadeshi’s commitment to responsible and ethical personal care.

As a truly Sri Lankan company, Swadeshi places particular importance on helping consumers understand the functional benefits of herbal ingredients. The company uses carefully selected Sri Lankan herbs, with ingredients extensively researched and products fully tested to ensure quality.

Beyond personal care, Swadeshi Khomba’s philosophy of care extends to the environment, communities and Sri Lankan heritage through a range of long-standing sustainability and CSR initiatives. These include the annual Swadeshi Khomba Aloka Pooja Sathkaraya at historical places of worship across the island, Swadeshi Khomba Mihithala Sathkaraya which supports Kohomba tree planting campaigns across Sri Lanka, and Swadeshi Khomba Gamata Sathkaraya, which provides water tanks to communities, schools and temples in the dry zone.

With the introduction of Lily & Gotukola, Lemongrass and Aloe & Cucumber, Swadeshi Khomba brings together the strength of its trusted herbal heritage and contemporary consumer needs, offering Sri Lankan families more ways to experience the natural goodness of Khomba.

From a brand that has been part of Sri Lankan households for generations, the new variants represent a fresh expression of a familiar promise – trusted herbal care, inspired by nature and created for the whole family.
