Colombo equities closed in positive territory on Tuesday as All Share price index gained 39.85 points (+0.59%) to end at 6,796.37 and S&P SL 20 index gained 25.78 points (+0.68%) to end at 3,793.93. The market fluctuated between gains and losses during the day where in the morning session the index dropped to 6,724.11 but managed to recover the losses during the latter part to close with higher returns. The gains were mainly underpinned by price progressions in Carson Cumberbatch (closed at LKR 490.00, +4.7%), Sri Lanka Telecom (closed at LKR 56.50, +2.2%) and Ceylinco Insurance (closed at LKR 1,425.00, +6%).
Gainers offset losers 155 to 83, while 49 counters remained unchanged. Cash map declined to 50% from 67%. 41 counters reached 52wk high price levels.
Daily market turnover reached LKR 1.4bn underpinned by several negotiated deals recorded in John Keells Holdings (0.5mn shares at LKR 245.00 per share), Commercial Bank (0.2mn shares at LKR 145.00 per share) and DFCC Bank (0.3mn shares at LKR 162.00 per share). Aggregate value of crossings represented 14% of the total market turnover.
Bukit Darah topped the turnover list with LKR 290mn followed by John Keells Holdings (LKR 267mn) and Ceylon Guardian Investment (LKR 60mn). Additionally shares of Carson Cumberbatch group namely Bukit Darah, Ceylon Guardian Investment, Lion Brewery, Good Hope and Ceylon Brewery attracted investor interest to close with notable gains.
Further George Steuart Finance, Richard Pieris exports and Janashakthi Insurance traded heavily during the session.
Foreign investors were net buyers with a net inflow of LKR 213mn worth of equities. Foreign participation was 22%. Net foreign inflows were seen John Keells Holdings (LKR 260mn), Royal Ceramic (LKR 17mn) and Lanka Tiles (LKR 15mn) while net foreign outflow was mainly seen in DFCC Bank (LKR 47mn).
Asiri Central Hospital announce that the exit offer made by Asiri Hospital Holdings PLC to the shareholders of the company expired on 21st July 2014. The payment will be made to the shareholders on or before 11th August 2014.
C.M Holdings declared a first and final dividend of LKR 3.00 per share (3.2% dividend yield at today’s closing price of LKR 93.00).
