The latest statistics released by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Authority indicate that during the first five months of 2018 – from January to May, the total number of foreign tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka is 1,017,819. This is a growth of 14.7% over last year.

While 129,466 tourists have arrived in Sri Lanka during May 2018, this is a 6.2% growth when compared against the 121,891 tourist arrivals during May 2017.

While as usual the majority of tourist arrivals within May are indicated as Indians, this number is 42,073. When compared to the 34,167 Indian tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka in May 2017, this is a growth of 23.1%. The total number of Indian tourist arrivals into the country during the first five months of this year is 173,366.
