Recent Cabinet decisions outlined that it has been planned to implement a project to improve the passenger terminal capacity of the Bandaranaike International Airport, enabling to provide facilities for 15 million passengers per annum.
Accordingly a proposal has been made to construct an interim terminal building for providing facilities to the passengers, until the completion of the said project. As such, the proposal made by Nimal Siripala de Silva, the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, to award the contract for the construction of the said interim terminal building to M/s China State Construction Engineering Corporation Ltd., as recommended by the Procurement Appeal Board, had been approved by the Cabinet.
