Coca-Cola plans fun activations, Christmas Truck and exciting tie-ups to whip up holiday cheer

The festive season in Sri Lanka and the world over is heralded with images of sharing, caring and giving all qualities that are manifested whenever you pop open a Coca-Cola and feel the happiness bubbling over. Once again, as the season of Christmas and the New Year draws near, Coca-Cola gets into high gear in its irrepressible enthusiasm to infuse Sri Lanka with the joy of the festive season. Continuing its great tradition, Coca-Cola drives home its holiday message of #BeSanta to all consumers in Sri Lanka along with its new 2019 global Christmas commercial to herald in the holiday season.

Synonymous with Christmas and holidays, Coca-Cola’s warm-hearted and rosy-cheeked Santa Claus makes his appearance in the latest commercial, which shows how he brings joy into lives of so many. The commercial ends on a note to celebrate the good we all share rather than on focusing on the differences. The unifying message reflects what the world needs right now against divisive forces, to rise above differences and to connect as kindred souls.

Mario Perera - Country Marketing Manager, Coca-Cola Sri Lanka Private Ltd. commented,  “The festive season at the end of every year is a special time for Coca-Cola as it has traditionally livened up the season with its heart-warming and engaging advertising and customer engagement activities to bring loved ones together in its warm embrace. This year too, Coca-Cola’s message is for people to unite and celebrate our common strengths while extending a helping hand to each other. Consumers in Sri Lanka can look forward to some exciting Coca-Cola promotions to brighten up the season!”

Coca-Cola will be partnering with key radio stations to bring its message to consumers to recognize commonalities with others no matter how different they may be or how little we might know about them. The best way to break the ice among strangers is usually by sharing or gifting a chilled Coca-Cola!

In Sri Lanka, Coca-Cola will add to the grandeur of the holidays with the Coke Christmas Truck, which is a sign of hope and cheer as it trundles into our life. The festivities will also include a choir and fun games at key supermarkets and large chain outlets to reward loyal Coca-Cola fans with super merchandise. Similar fun, interactive games have been planned at popular cinemas and malls across Colombo, with a digital ‘Spin the wheel’ activation to engage all customers.

Across the city of Colombo, Coca-Cola will be whipping up the excitement for the festive season by partnering with Christmas markets and Food Festivals, adding its unmistakable red colour to the season. Along with depicting warm relationships and family love, Coca Cola has also tapped themes such as its key Christmas message #BeSanta, with the beautiful thought that ‘What we Share is Stronger’.

It is well known that Coca-Cola did help to create the modern-day image of Santa, in fact the way most of us see Santa Claus - friendly and plump with a white beard did come from Coca-Cola advertising. The captivating story of Coke and Santa Claus will always stand as a strong reminder of how great brands can truly shape popular culture and create meaningful connections with consumers that can truly withstand the test of time.
