A steady and a positive stock market performance will draw good quality investors, which is a key requirement for the development of a country, Commercial Bank Chairman Dharma Dheerasinghe said.
“The stock exchange place allows businesses to access capital and provide opportunities for companies to enhance their visibility and public image. The country becomes visible to the world depending on many indicators and the performance of its stock exchange is one such economic indicator. A steady and a positive stock market performance will draw good quality investors, which is a key requirement for the development of a country,” Dheerasinghe said whilst speaking at a bell-ringing ceremony at the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) today (26).
Commercial Bank rang the Opening Bell to commence trading at the Colombo Stock Exchange today in order to celebrate its 100-year anniversary.
Speaking further Dheerasinghe noted that, after getting listed in CSE, Commercial bank has benefited from the capital raising tools such as debentures, IPOs, and rights issues, which have allowed them to access capital while maintaining reasonable control in their operational areas.
"Being listed in the CSE has over the years contributed tremendously to our business apart from providing access to capital. The market exposure received as a cooperate listed in the CSE has not only brought us potential investors and new customers but also has contributed in placing our brand and the public image,” he added.
