Dr. R.S.S. Samaratunga who was earlier the Secretary to the Petroleum Ministry took over duties this morning (12 January) as the Secretary to the Finance Ministry, replacing Dr. P.B. Jayasundera.

Dr. Samaratunga has obtained a special degree in economics from the Peradeniya University and has done his post graduate studies at Wisconsin-Madison and Sri Jayewardenapura Universities.

He has an experience of over 25 years in the government service.
