Attention has been given to establish a Crocodile Park in Matara, as a way to increase conservation and attract tourists, Minister of Tourism Prasanna Ranatunga stated.
The Minister said this, whilst responding to a question raised by MP Buddhika Pathirana in parliament today (22).
MP Buddhika Pathirana: New developments like Safari Parks will be useful to uplift the tourism industry which has been heavily hit by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Due to the human-crocodile conflict in Matara district, there was a plan to establish a Crocodile Park near Kirala Kele. The work began, but it was stopped suddenly. This is a new concept. If the Minister of Wildlife and Minister of Tourism work on this matter together, it will be good for the city of Matara.
Minister Prasanna Ranatunga: We will be paying our attention on that. The Minister of Irrigation Chamal Rajapaksa had a discussion on this topic. Collaboratively, we will work together on this.
