Prominent Sri Lankan entrepreneur Hemaka Amarasuriya is to be appointed as head of Sri Lanka Insurance, Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake told www.adaderanabiz.lk this evening (14 February).

Hemaka Devapriya Senarath Amarasuriya is the Founder President of the Industrial Association of Sri Lanka. Mr. Amarasuriya served as Vice President of Retail Holdings N.V, Senior Regional Vice President at Singer Asia Limited, Managing Director of Singer (Sri Lanka) Ltd, Chairman of NDB Bank among several other private sector institutions. He also has served on the Presidential Task Force on Science & Technology.

Mr. Amarasuriya father, Thomas Amarasuriya, was the President of the Senate till 1965. His uncle H.W. Amarasuriya was a former Minister of Trade and Commerce in the D. S. Senanayake government.
