Deputy Secretary to the Treasury A.R. Desapriya has been appointed as the new chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Desapriya has 30 years of work experience in the public sector. He is now a special grade officer of Sri Lanka Administrative Service (SLAS).

Before he assumed the duties of his current position as Deputy Secretary to the Treasury, he worked as Director-General of National Budget Department. He is also serving as a member on the Board of the Sri Lanka Insurance Board and a Director to the Board of Regional Development Bank. 

A.R. Desapriya has a BSc Degree in Public Administration from the University of Sri Jayawardanapura, Sri Lanka and MBA Degree from University of Ljubljana, Slovenia.
