Asian Alliance Insurance partners Department of Pensions to launch ‘Buhuman’

-  A tailor made insurance cover for pensioners -

Asian Alliance Insurance, together with the Department of Pensions along with the intermediation and involvement of Colombo RE Insurance Brokers, recently announced a specially tailor-made insurance cover for Sri Lanka’s retired senior citizens, who have contributed a life time of service towards Sri Lanka’s economy, society, and future generations. The insurance cover was introduced with the objective of safeguarding the life styles of retired senior citizens. The event was graced by the Hon. Minister of Public Administration & Home Affairs Mr. W. D. J. Seneviratne.

Every pensioner under this cover will be empowered with the strength to face the challenges and sicknesses that may occur during their retired life. The policy is available under three insurance plans and pensioners may choose the best fitting policy depending on their financial strength. They are given the facility of paying the monthly premium directly from their pension.

The Buhuman policy extends a range of special benefits including personal accident cover, hospitalization cover, funeral expenses cover and critical illnesses cover.

Speaking about the introduction of this insurance cover Mr. Ramal Jasinghe the Director/CEO of Asian Alliance Insurance said, “Our senior citizens have played an integral role in the development of Sri Lanka and we are today reaping the benefits of their many years of hard work. We devised this policy for pensioners as a way of showing our appreciation and gratitude to them for a life time of untiring contribution to society. Currently the total pensioner’s population is around 536,000 where 25,000 enters into the database annually.”

The Buhuman pension policy will cover accidents, hospitalizations and critical illness that many government servants would face post retirement.
