ASPI drops below 16,000 as CSE records second day of losses

The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) experienced another sharp downturn today (January 6), with the All Share Price Index (ASPI) dropping 170.82 points to close at 15,878.60, marking a significant decline below the 16,000-point threshold.

This marks the second consecutive day of losses for the ASPI, following a record-breaking growth streak of 26 days that ended last Friday (January 3). On that day, the index saw a steep decline of 299.13 points, signaling the beginning of the current downward trend.

Today's trading session saw a transaction turnover of Rs. 8.57 billion, reflecting sustained market activity despite the decline in indices.
