The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) reached a new milestone today (23), with the All Share Price Index (ASPI) touching the 24,000 level during intraday trading for the first time in history.
The benchmark index closed at 23,956.51 points, up by 142.74 points from the previous session, underscoring strong market momentum.
The S&P SL20 Index also advanced, gaining 31.65 points to end at 6,649.50.
Turnover for the day surged to an impressive Rs. 10.50 billion, driven by heavy trading in Colombo Dockyard PLC (Rs. 2.12 billion) and LOLC Holdings PLC (Rs. 1.24 billion).
Market gains were led by LOLC Holdings, Colombo Dockyard, Commercial Bank, Browns Investments and Melstacorp, which provided the biggest boost to the indices.
