Sri Lanka sealed a record-breaking overall third place in the recently concluded ‘2024 Asian Rowing Indoor Championships’ (ARICH), the biggest indoor rowing event in Asia, held at the Straits Quay Retail Marina in Penang, Malaysia. The male and female teams of Sri Lanka successfully secured 10 Gold, 8 Silver and 7 Bronze medals, marking Sri Lanka’s highest number of medals clinched at an international rowing competition, thus far. Hosted by the Malaysian Rowing Association and Penang Rowing Association in collaboration with the Asian Rowing Federation, the 2024 Asian Rowing Indoor Championships was held from August 9^th to 11^th. It opened doors to international athletes from the ages of 4 years to 60 years to participate in rowing events under a varied number of age and distance categories dedicated to both men and women.

The Sri Lankan rowing teams were comprised of members from the Amateur Rowing Association of Sri Lanka (ARASL). Each individual was selected through rigorous qualification criteria. These talented individuals have been gaining significant recognition in the international arena, during the past couple of years, marking a significant turning point for the country’s rowing potential.
