The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) is to acquire the 60 megawatt capacity power generating plant installed on a barge at the Colombo harbour at a cost of Rs. 641 million.

While this power generation plant is being maintained by Colombo Power Limited, its power purchasing contract with the CEB has expired by now.

Since this has been a ‘Build, Operate and Transfer’ (BOT) agreement, the CEB has to now own or acquire the floating power generating plant.
