Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Hosts High-Level Evening with Diplomats

The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce brought together Sri Lanka’s business, diplomatic, and government communities, hosting a high-level networking evening recently at the Cinnamon Grand, Colombo. Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment, Hon. Arun Hemachandra, attended as the Chief Guest.

The event welcomed Ambassadors, High Commissioners, and Consuls General representing nearly 50 countries, alongside representatives from key state institutions. It provided an unmatched opportunity for the private sector and diplomats to connect directly, exchange insights, and explore opportunities for collaboration.

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Arun Hemachandra highlighted Sri Lanka’s steady economic recovery, noting growth across agriculture, industry, and services, alongside strengthened fiscal management. He also acknowledged the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce’s vital role in bridging the private sector and international partners, emphasising that public–private–diplomatic collaboration is key to expanding trade, promoting exports, and fostering sustainable development.

Ceylon Chamber Chairperson Mr Krishan Balendra highlighted the Chamber’s role in linking the private sector with global markets. “Events like this create advantageous opportunities for our members to discover new markets, diversify their exports, and form partnerships that can grow over the long term,” he said.

The steady high-level engagements of foreign missions with the Ceylon Chamber clearly indicate the diplomatic community’s recognition of the Chamber as a key bridge between Sri Lanka’s businesses and the international community.

The evening concluded with an extended networking session, allowing participants to connect with the diplomatic community and government representatives to forge connections with the potential to grow Sri Lanka’s businesses and international partnerships.
