President of the Chartered institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Mr. Amal Ratnayake was recently hosted at the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) for a special market opening ceremony organized to celebrate the professional management accounting body’s 100-year anniversary.
CIMA Regional Vice President Mr. Venkkat Ramanan, Country Head Ms. Zahara Ansary, Immediate past Chair of the Country network Panel Ms. Manohari Abeyesekera, Chair of the Country network Panel Ms. Rifka Ziyard and Global Council member Mr. Suresh Perera also attended the event representing CIMA while the CSE was represented by Chairman Mr. Ray Abeywardena, CEO Mr. Rajeeva Bandaranaike, CSE Management and CIMA members employed at the Exchange.
Speaking at the ceremony CSE CEO Mr. Rajeeva Bandaranaike congratulated CIMA for embarking on a significant milestone and remaining as a dominant force in the Global Accounting related professional qualification space. He thanked CIMA for selecting the CSE bell ringing platform to celebrate its centenary year. Mr. Bandaranaike went onto note the significant contribution CIMA has made to the Sri Lankan business fraternity through initiatives that are very much in the best interest of the capital market and the investor community in Sri Lanka.
Commenting at the event CIMA President and Chair of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants Mr. Amal Ratnayake said, “Over the years the Colombo Stock Exchange has seen many changes and it has reimagined its purpose and adapted to the shifting needs of all Citizens and businesses in Sri Lanka. CIMA throughout its hundred years has also grown and evolved, and that is why with the combined strength of CIMA and the American Institute of CPAs under the banner of The Association, are able to reinforce our commitment, strengthen and promote a dynamic accounting profession worldwide.”
CIMA Sri Lanka was established in 1965 and is celebrating 55 years in Sri Lanka in 2020. CIMA Sri Lanka are the proud hosts of the World’s second largest concentration of CIMA students and members in the world.
