The Courier and Express Parcel Association of Sri Lanka (CEPAC) is the leading industry body representing the interests of the courier and express parcel sector in Sri Lanka. CEPAC is dedicated to promoting excellence, fostering innovation, and advocating for policies that improve the industry's growth and sustainability. On 25th of July 2024, Courier and Express Parcel Association of Ceylon (CEPAC) conducted its Annual General Meeting (AGM) for the year 2024-2025, marking a significant highlight in the association’s ongoing ePorts to address industry challenges and enhance operational ePiciency. The event was held at The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and brought together key stakeholders from the logistics and courier industry.
In the opening speech, the current President Mr. Chaminda Mallawa highlighted the achievements of the past year, acknowledging the hard work and dedication of the committee members. Despite regulatory challenges, the association has significantly strengthened its membership and collaborated with key stakeholders. Key accomplishments include the implementation of new industry standards, successfully persuading regulatory reforms, and initiatives to improve service quality and customer satisfaction.
At the recent Annual General Meeting (AGM), key appointments were made to ensure continuity and ePective leadership within the organization. Mr. Chaminda Mallawa was reappointed as President for another year, underscoring the commitment to maintaining stable and strategic leadership. Mr. Sanjay Samarasinghe and Mr. Nishantha Rathmalvina will serve as Vice Presidents, supporting the President in advancing the organization's goals. Mr. Sumedha Gunasekara, formerly the Assistant Secretary, has been promoted to Secretary, reflecting his expertise and dedication. Ms. Viranna Fonseka has been appointed as the new Assistant Secretary, expected to enhance the ePiciency of the administrative functions. Mrs. Sonali De Silva will continue as Treasurer, ensuring ongoing financial oversight, while Mr. Manoj Enoch remains as Assistant Treasurer, supporting financial management. These appointments highlight a strong leadership team ready to guide the organization through its future initiatives.
A highlight of the AGM was the keynote speech delivered by Mr. Sudattha Silva, Additional Director General of Customs of Sri Lanka. Mr. Silva dwelled on the importance of automation in customs operations, outlining the steps taken to streamline processes and enhance transparency. He also discussed the vital role of customs in social protection and the ongoing ePorts to integrate various regulatory agencies into a cohesive automated system. He signified that the association would have the opportunity to present and discuss their common issues with the relevant customs authorities. His address was followed by a lively Ǫ&A session, where members discussed various issues impacting the industry.
The event provided great opportunities for networking and collaboration among members, strengthening unity and collective ePort. Attendees shared best practices, discussed common challenges, and explored potential partnerships.
The AGM adjourned with a renewed commitment to overcoming industry challenges and driving forward with innovative solutions and strong partnerships. The leadership expressed their gratitude to all members for their continued support and dedication.
