The last rites for Deshabandu Patrick Amarasinghe who passed away on Thursday will be held at 4.00 pm today (10 October) at the Kanatte in Borella 

Deshabandu Patrick Amarasinghe, a veteran industrialist and a former Chairman of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry passed away at the age of 83.

Patrick Amarasinghe’s entrepreneurship began in the 1970s from where he went on to become a founder of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Sri Lanka, the National Chamber of Exporters and the Young Entrepreneurs of Sri Lanka. He also initiated the ‘Annual Entrepreneur of the Year Awards’ scheme at Provincial and National levels and established the Young Entrepreneurs Sri Lanka in 1998 as a non-profit organization to empower school children and university students on entrepreneurship.
