At a time when Sri Lanka is slowly but surely recovering from a dire economic crisis, it is imperative to ensure that the people of our nation have access to their necessities. Among them access to food and nutrition is a priority for the government of Sri Lanka. Assisting the government achieve its goals of becoming a self-sufficient nation must include the assistance of the private sector. In keeping with the commitment to uplifting the lives of everyday Sri Lankans, Diamond Best Foods recently joined hands with the Udunuwara Development Trust to provide 5000 beneficiaries with free milk powder.

The” Poshana Sathkaaraya” 2023 programme was held on 20^th August 2023 where 5000 selected beneficiaries from marginalized communities in Kandy, and selected areas in Colombo received free milk powder. The supply will last till the end of 2023, resulting in milk powder worth more than 20 million being distributed. The beneficiaries have been carefully selected through a stringent selection process with the assistance of the Zonal Educational Offices in Kandy and selected areas in Colombo. The beneficiaries include school children between Grade 1-5, children with special needs, orphanages, elder’s homes and Dhamma schools.

The Udunuwara Development Trust is a voluntary social service organization that has been dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and communities since its inception in 2015. The UDT is a national NGO that works with like-minded organizations in ensuring the necessities of underprivileged communities are met.
