Dr Parakrama Dissanayake has officially assumed office as the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority today, 17 February 2026. He has previously served as Chairman of the SLPA on two separate occasions and brings extensive experience in maritime operations, logistics, and corporate management.
Dr Dissanayake has held senior positions in both the public and private sectors, including leadership roles at Aitken Spence PLC and its subsidiaries, as well as national port management and advisory positions. He has also been recognised internationally, serving as the first non-British President of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (UK) and participating in UN maritime advisory initiatives.
In his new term, Dr Dissanayake is expected to focus on improving port operations, enhancing logistics efficiency, and strengthening Sri Lanka’s position as a regional maritime hub.
