Entrust share trading suspended since no clarifications from company

January, 8, 2016

It is now four days since trading of Entrust Securities PLC had been suspended at the Colombo Stock Exchange [CSE]. On 04 January the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) took steps to hand over its management to the National Savings Bank due to several complaints on financial irregularities in the company.

When Ada Derana Biz inquired from CSE Assistant Manager – Brand Development, Lasitha Wijeyagunawardene, he said, “The CSE called for a clarification on newspaper reports on Entrust Securities. However, there has been no response so far. This is the reason for the share trading to be suspended.”

Presently the management of Entrust Securities PLC has been handed over to the National Savings Bank’s fund management unit. Though Ada Derana Biz attempted to obtain the views of an authority from this unit, it was unsuccessful.
