Eshan Pieris came home with a triumphant win in the Silver Cup category at round four of the GT World Challenge Asia (GTWC) held at the Chang International Circuit in Thailand. The victory cemented a positive weekend for the Sri Lankan driver, who also scored a podium the day before, in round three.
Eshan credited the collaborative effort that went into preparing the car. "We worked really hard together to get the car to work and today we got some results for our work," he remarked. He specifically commended his teammate, Tanart Sathienthirakul, for a stellar performance on the stint.
He further expressed his gratitude to Absolute Racing and Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific for the opportunity and his appreciation to his supporters from Sri Lanka for their unwavering encouragement.
Rounds three and four of GT World Challenge Asia saw fierce competition among drivers from across the region. In addition to securing a class win and second runner-up spot, Pieris and Sathienthirakul finished sixth overall in both races — a commendable feat, with Pieris having to battle his way through the field, starting from P20 in the second race.
Eshan revealed that he plans to take a brief break before gearing up for the next race in Japan at Sportsland Sugo, enthused about the prospect of returning to Japanese circuits.
He expressed his anticipation for the rest of the season at the GT World Challenge Asia. “With a step up into GTWC, I am looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together as the tour goes on,” he said as he gears up to resume his racing in Japan.
