FITIS and Department of Samurdhi Development Sign MoU to Train and Employ Youth from Underprivileged Families

Federation of Information Technology Sri Lanka (FITIS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Samurdhi Development on 05th June 2024 to provide training and employment for the youth of families of Government Beneficiary Programmes.

This MoU signifies the commitment made by the FITIS to the Government of Sri Lanka to assist and  improve the Digital Economy to USD 15 Billion by 2030 from the current USD 4 Billion. Chairman of FITIS, Mr Indika De Zoysa  signed the MoU on behalf of FITIS and Mr C.D. Kaluarachchi, Director General of Samurdhi signed on behalf of the Department.

Under this MoU, FITIS will provide IT related training for the youth ( 16 – 25 years) of under privileged families who are now enrolled in Government Beneficiary Programmes to equip them with the skills needed for employment in the ICT Industry Sector. The employment opportunities will be provided by the member companies of FITIS.

This is one of the projects planned by the Department of Samurdhi Development to assist the under privileged families to find proper employment. While providing employment opportunities and helping the underprivileged community, FITIS is also utilizing its resources to build the much needed skilled workforce for the ICT Industry.
