October, 3, 2019

Cabinet on Tuesday (01) approved a proposal made by Transport and Civil Aviation Minister Arjuna Ranatunga to give clearance for Sri Lanka’s Civil Aviation Authority to issue one year temporary operating licenses to foreign airlines that are interested in flying within Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka has not yet awarded the rights for foreign airlines to operate domestic flights in Sri Lanka through bilateral aviation agreements entered into with other countries.

The airlines would be allowed to operate to Jaffna International Airport, Batticaloa Airport, Colombo International Airport, Ratmalana Airport and Mattala International Airport.
