The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) will take the responsibility of repaying the moneys deposited with the bankrupt, CBSL-unsupervised Golden Key Credit Card Company which belonged to Lalith Kotelawala, said Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake.
The Finance Minister gave this assurance following discussions with a group of Golden Key Credit Card Company depositors who had arrived at the Ministry this morning (13 May).
Meanwhile, during this meeting the depositors have agreed to withdraw all the cases against Golden Key Credit Card Company and its Directors to recover their deposits.
Agreement has been reached to withdraw these cases when it is taken up again on 18 May.
The Finance Minister said that the CBSL would begin repaying the funds with the identified assets of Golden Key Credit Card Company and its Directors and that new investigations would be carried out into the other assets of the company and its Directors.
The CBSL would repay those who had deposited up to Rs. 01 million within one month and those who had deposited up to Rs. 10 million within two months, said the Finance Minister. The balance is scheduled to be repaid by end this year.
